Photography Goals for 2014

I know, I know, your thinking it’s mid-January, were overrrr the whole goal making phase of the new year. Well, I honestly haven’t had the chance to sit down and really think about them so here goes (& I’m not getting up until I’m all done – in a stern mother tone). I truly am a firm believer in making goals and writing them down. It helps with accountability, well you can be the judge of that. I encourage you to write your goals down, they can be publicly, personally, in a blog post, on a piece of toilet paper – whatever works (& wherever you can find the quiet place to do it).

Christina Z Photography’s 2014 Goals

I find it important to make both business and personal goals, so here are my business goals for 2014.

  1. Capturing life, one photo at a time. These are the words my business is built on, and I think it’s so important to hold true to it.
  2. Get more organized. My desk, my computer, my work flow, it all needs more organization! I could really use some shelves or more space (hmmm…)
  3. Get my work out there. Enter more photography contests, submit my work to more publications, get featured, published, get out there!
  4. Education. In order to continue to grow my business I need to keep educated.
  5. Blog regularly. It’s a great outlet, and I love showing off my most recent work.
  6. Set out to find inspiration. I want to book more inspired, concept, & styled shoots this year. I want to keep feeding my passion.
  7. Get insta liked. Reach 1,000 followers on Instagram in 2014!
  8. See familiar faces. I want to see my 2013 clients book again this year!
  9. Fifty-Two Project. Complete my weekly photo challenge. Along with a 31 day challenge in August.
  10. Have a rocking Senior Model Program.

Christina’s 2014 Goals:

Here are a few of my personal goals for 2014.

  1. Be a mom & wife first.
  2. Be more active.
  3. Practice patients.
  4. Shoot for me.
  5. Stay on top of personal editing & printing.
  6. A day in the life project. One day during my daughters birth month, I want to capture her – as she is, all day.
  7. Unplug. I’m going to start with once a month, and unplug for an entire day. Then maybe try for once a week. In order to try to be more present in life.

Photography Goals from 2013

As I mentioned earlier, I think it’s important to create goals. It’s also important to look back on those goals to see how you did. So here are my goals from last year.

  1. Capture life’s precious moments, one photo at a time! Yup!
  2. Never leave my camera. You never know what opportunities will present its self. I did alright at this, definitely brought it along more often that I would have previously.
  3. Photo a day challenge. Watch my photography develop over a year’s time. Completed!
  4. Get published. Get my photography featured on a blog/website. It’s not about who you know, but who knows you! Completed! My first ever feature was over at A Military Story – click here to read it
  5. Blog regularly. Present my work & share my personality on my own piece of the web. Completed! I blogged AT LEAST once a week.
  6. Be inspired. Remember that photography is foremost my passion. It’s easy to forget how much I enjoy it, so schedule time to find inspiration. Not enough, but I did alright.
  7. Get organized. Develop a workflow to save time & energy in post processing. Not organized enough.
  8. Be Googled. Show up on the first page of Google. Yes!
  9. Get Liked. Reach 1,000 fans by the end of the year. Yes!
  10. Shoot more! Gain 50% more clients. Yes! Above & Beyond!

I hope this inspires you to write your goals down & make the best of the New Year! I’d love to hear about your goals for 2014, too! Just remember, the most important thing about goals, is having one.

Until next time…

2 Year Anniversary | Photography Business

November marks the 2 year anniversary of Christina Z Photography and I couldn’t be more proud of my “baby”. While November is also a time to give thanks, it really means so much more. I really want to thank all my wonderful clients that have had the opportunity to get in front of my camera. I have enjoyed so much capturing all your smiles, laughter, smooches, and memories and I wish to do it for many many years to come.

I’d also really like to thank my husband and my family. Without the love and support of my wonderful husband I would absolutely not be where I am today (especially because he purchased me my first “real” camera). I’m so thankful for a family that has encouraged me to follow my dreams, and let me stick my big ole’ camera in their faces time and time again. And of course, I want to thank my little baby girl. She has been the absolute perfect model the past year and is the real reason my passion for photography has grown oodles, not to my mention my business has allowed me to spend my days at home with her.

Within the year, I have zoned in on my true passion within photography – high school seniors, couples, and families. I have really began to brand my company and transform it into the dream I’ve always had.

But of course, I would be nothing with out my very first paying client, whom I wish wasn’t so dang far away. The McBride Family trusted me with their family photos year after year, even when I had just purchased my first camera. I’m so grateful. Putting a dollar value on my product wasn’t easy back then, which leads me to also be so thankful for all the ones who stepped in front of my camera before I had the confidence to call myself a professional. Practice makes perfect right? Also, a huge thanks to my returning clients, who must have loved their experience as much as I did, to want to come back and do it again!

I’ve come a long way and only have the biggest hopes and dreams for the future. I appreciate each and every one of you that support my little dream. Let’s make it another great year!

Here’s a little walk down memory lane…

Breakfast at Tiffany’s Bridal Shower | Bradenton Photographer

Please Join Us, Darlings, for a Fabulous Bridal Shower

There is something really special about capturing memories for your friends. This is not just any friend, but one of my very best friends. She stood by me while I got married and now I get to do the same. In the meantime, my duties as a bridesmaid have been awesome! I have had the pleasure of capturing her engagement photos, create her bridal shower invitations, and photograph her beautiful shower. It was Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme, since her wedding colors are Tiffany Blue & Silver, it was very fitting. Her maid of honor opened her home up to all 40 plus of Chelsea’s family and friends and did an amazing job with all the little details, with the help of the bridesmaids. I promised the mother of the bride, Terri, that she could enjoy the day while I captured everything for her, and also assured her I would do a blog post so she could share with her family and friends that couldn’t make it. I hope you all enjoy!

Faith | 2014 Lakewood Ranch High School | Bradenton Florida High School Senior Photographer

Faith is a 2014 Lakewood Ranch High School Senior and CZP Senior Rep. She’s also the Captain of the LRHS Varsity Cheer Team. We had a lot of fun with her senior photos. She really wanted to show her bubbly and outgoing personality.

Faith brought along 3 outfits, which was perfect. She was able to show her casual, sporty, and classy look. She didn’t over do it with accessories either. She wanted to keep her looks very natural right down to hair and makeup.

“If you’re doing a more fancy or wedding type session, go and get your hair done. But if its senior pictures, do your hair yourself because that’s how all your friends see you.”

Faith used some clothes she already had, which included her cheerleading uniform and homecoming dress. She did go to Charlotte Russe for the white shirt and brown belt, which was such a great choice. I always like to tell my clients, especially seniors, you don’t have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. You most likely have the perfect outfit in your closet.

Faith is a beach girl, so that’s why we decided to do her senior portraits on Coquina Beach. It is one of my favorite locations due to the scenery’s variety. Although it was windy we were able to work with it. Faith agrees; it looked kind of cool with her hair blowing in the wind. Not to mention the sunset was gorgeous! I love a great Florida beach sunset.

Faith was really nervous about looking awkward since she had never posed for pictures but they turned out great! She was taking direction and running with it. She is definitely a natural.

“It was a lot of fun and I was very impressed with the outcome!”

Her one piece of advice to give to anyone getting their senior photos taken,
“GO TO CHRISTINA Z PHOTOGRAPHY!”

Christina Z Photography | Central Florida Wedding Photographer | Five Things to Look for in a Wedding Photographer

Top Five Things to Look for in a Wedding Photographer | Christina Z Photography – Central Florida Wedding Photographer

I was a guest at a wedding for some close friends this weekend. This is the second time I’ve attended a wedding with photographer goggles on. There are so many things I pick up on that I make sure I do or don’t do when I’m the photographer. So for your knowledge, I have compiled a list of things you should look for when choosing your professional wedding photographer.

  1. Experience. While every photographer, including myself, have to start somewhere. Be sure that your photographer is experienced with weddings. It is very important that your photographer knows how wedding day goes, as well as being experienced with their equipment.
  2. Speaking of equipment, make sure you find a photographer that has the appropriate equipment for your wedding day event. While asking a family friend to take your photos may be the easy and cheaper option, a professional will be prepared with the proper camera, lenses, flash, batteries, etc.
  3. Will there be a second photographer or assistant? Depending on the size of your event, having multiple photographers or help is necessary. For instance, capturing the groom while he is getting ready is only possible when there is a second photographer. Also, covering the cocktail hour and reception details while the other photographer is doing formals with the Bride & Groom.
  4. Coordination ensure that your photographer will be able to capture your photos in a timely manner.
  5. Post Production. Choose a photographer that has experience and talent in editing photos and choose one that uses top of the line professional programs. Also, make sure you have taken a look at their portfolio to gain a sense of their editing and photography style. You cannot expect your photographer to create images outside of their style, so be sure you are in love with their style.

The Bottom line: You get what you pay for. Your wedding day cannot be re-done. There are no do-overs. You need to trust that your photographer is professional and experienced.

Ask yourself this questions:  Is hiring a professional photographer that will capture my wedding day photos and keep them safe, worth it?
If you answered yes, you are making a wise decision. If you have answered no, please keep in mind the risk of losing those precious moments forever.

Until next time… xo

Gary and Jenni-Marie have a August Florida Wedding planned. Guess who gets to photograph it? Yours truly! I’m thrilled. We had such a fun time during their engagement session. They were so relaxed with each other, I just love when couples make my job easy. Although, there was a challenge. 2 hours earlier I photographed Jenni’s sister’s engagement session and a month ago I photographed their littlest sister’s Senior Portraits at the same location! Yeah.. I had some work cut out for me! But lemme just say, I’m glad they chose me! Take a peek at some of my faves… Continue reading

Christina Z Photography is making some changes! | Orlando Senior Portrait Photographer

Since starting Christina Z Photography in 2011, I have not changed my prices at all. I’ve made minor adjustments and added some things but nothing major. It is about time for some change! What better time then in my new city, Orlando! Are you with me? I hope you’ll stick around. Trust me, it’s only to better serve you, the client. This is not simply a price increase, I’m working to offer better service and products! More importantly, I am going to focus on what I truly love and strive to be the best at! No more jack of all trades, master of none!

Christina Z Photography specializes in High School Seniors, Family, and Couples Photography.

Christina Z Photography

First, let me clear something up. All current sessions that have paid deposits will not change, this includes baby planners, children, events, weddings, etc. You will even get the old print pricing for up to a month after your gallery is posted. Going forward, beginning June 1st, the new pricing structure will be in effect. Also, I will still hold seasonal mini session events so make sure you keep an eye out for those. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me an email. Okay, on to the good stuff…

You know those photos that have the creamy, sunshine-y goodness in the background? It is referred to as the “golden hour”. Every photographers favorite hour to shoot in. Going forward, all sessions will be held during this time. Amazing, right?

ALL of the new packages include a print credit! I’m so excited about this! I love nothing more than walking around my home and seeing family photos, like artwork, all over my walls. I’m sure you will agree, nothing brightens your day more than seeing the smiles of those you love. Those smiles should be displayed all over your home. Most people take the digital images from their session and put them all over Facebook or they sit on the disc and never get printed. All my hard work just sits in a drawer, the money you spent goes wasted. Not anymore! I will help you choose the best photos to be displayed in your home. How fun, right? I hope you are as excited as I am. So what are you waiting for? Book your CZP Photography Experience today!
