Stephanie is a Class of 2013 Early Graduate at Braden River High School. Upon meeting Stephanie I knew her Senior Portrait Session was going to be different, different good. She is an edgy girl and I was excited to show that in her senior photos. Stephanie enjoys photography, cosmetology, and the outdoors. She was going for an urban look for her senior photos, but also wanted to include nature and her outdoorsy-ness (is that a word? it is now).
Maria is a St. Petersburg High School Senior, who used to live in Palmetto, Florida and is originally from Colombia. She used to be involved in softball and rowing. Her hobbies include going to the gym everyday, staying in shape, going out with friends and spending time with her boyfriend (who also came along for support during her senior photo session).
I was lucky again! Another gorgeous high school senior photo session! Grace is a 2014 Lakewood Ranch High School Senior, and she is stunning. Grace enjoys working with little kids, babysitting, volunteering at her church’s A.C.M.E. program, spending time with her friends, and focusing on school and her future.
Grace was going for a natural look for her senior photos, which is why the beach was perfect for her! We ran into a bit of rain during her senior photo session, but she rocked it anyways! Grace says,”My experience was very nice, my wonderful photographer was very sweet, and the spot on the beach that she chose was perfect!” And no I didn’t pay her to say that, hehehe.
Grace brought 4 outfits to her session, and we used 3 of them. It gave her 3 very different looks for her senior photos and was the perfect variety. She didn’t overdo it on the accessories, kept it simple with a watch, bracelet, and earrings. It was the perfect touch. Her advice on how to prepare, “Just take a few hours to get reach and make sure your hair and makeup is how you want it, and make sure you have all of your outfits planned out in advance or you will be in my position, rushing to the store the day before my session! Not a smart idea.” One of my favorite parts of planning a senior portrait session, is when they send me pictures of their outfit ideas and chooses. I really love helping them plan, PLUS I love getting ideas from their closets.. hehe. Grace wore a pair of Hollister shorts and a shimmery tank top from Bealls for her first look. For her second look, she wore a long maxi dress from Forever 21 and sandals from Charlotte Russe. And for her third look, her dress was from Guess. Her watch and bracelet were from Fossil.
Most of the time, my Seniors are a little nervous and a lot anxious for their senior photos. I really try to make sure they are comfortable right from the beginning, and I think it starts with all our conversations leading up to the photo session. Grace says, “I had never had a photo shoot done like this so I was a little nervous, but as soon as I got there I felt very confident because my photographer helped me get into the feel of things.”
Grace’s advice to anyone getting their senior photos taken, “Just act natural and pick a place you are most comfortable. Don’t overdo it, the more natural it is, the better, in my opinion.” I agree with her completely. It really comes across in your photos if you are comfortable, so I love to make sure that the location really suits the clients!
This session has to be one of my favorites, we have been planning it for months. The Rogers’ are practically family so when Gena mentioned me doing Shorty’s Senior Portraits I was ecstatic! So the planning begun. Shorty is big into fishing and most weekends he can be found on his boat. So instead of making him (yes, making him – he does not like pictures) do his session on land I figured lets take it to the water! All that excitement wore off when the day before his session his dad told me what a disaster it would be, how Shorty isn’t a morning person, and hates his picture taken, and on and on… I had my work cut out for me. 5:45 AM rolls around, and I’m headed out the door for his sunrise session, hop on his boat and head to the island. He must have known I meant serious business, because it was anything but disastrous. I even got TONS of smiles from him! Although I had to bribe him a bit towards the end for multiple poses on his boat, he cooperated and I have to say every photo turned out amazing!
